Police ID pedestrian who died after being struck by car in North Austin

Austin police have identified the woman who was was struck by a car and died in Northeast Austin.

Police on Wednesday said Cynthia Leonard, who was 47 years old, died after a white 2015 Ford Fiesta struck her near the intersection of Cameron Road and St. Johns Avenue.

Police said they are still looking for the driver of the Ford, who has been accused of leaving the scene after striking the woman with their car.

Authorities were notified of the crash around 9:41 p.m. Thursday, and Leonard was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.

The woman’s death was the 22nd traffic fatality of the year, police said.
