Girl dies after being struck by school district bus in Conroe

A 6-year-old Conroe girl died after she ran in front of a Conroe Independent School District bus and was hit Tuesday morning.

Francisca Sophia was a student at Anderson Elementary School, school officials said.

Conroe police officers were called to the scene around 7:30 a.m. When they arrived, they learned Sophia was conscious but not breathing before paramedics with the Montgomery County Hospital District took her to the Texas Children’s Hospital The Woodlands, according to police.

Francisca died from her injuries, according to the Conroe Police Department.

Police said crash investigators with the department interviewed witnesses and reviewed the bus’s dash cam video, concluding Francisca lived near the bus stop and apparently ran in front of the vehicle as it departed from the pickup location.
