Manor Boy Attacked by Pit Bull

Manor police say a 7-year-old boy was the victim of an unprovoked dog attack on Monday night.

Police said the child was playing in the yard of a home in the 14400 block of Callan Court around 8:08 p.m. when the dog, a pit bull mix, ran out of a residence as its owner opened a door.

Practical Tip

Insurance companies know that often you are in a financial squeeze.  Even if you have good health insurance, the fact that you aren’t working may make it difficult to pay co-pays and deductibles.  The insurance company knows you are getting calls from the doctors, so they take their time with your claim.

“A home security video obtained by Manor Police from the dog owner’s neighbor shows the dog chasing the child and attacking him as he runs away,” police said. “In the video, the owner of the dog is seen following the dog and attempting the pull the dog off of the child.”

The boy was taken to an area hospital with bites to his left and right upper thigh and the left side of his back.

The dog’s owner agreed to surrender the animal to authorities, and it was taken to the Austin Animal Center and placed on a 10-day rabies watch quarantine.

Police said the owner has been cited for having an unregistered dog, unprovoked attack, failing to have proof of rabies vaccination and animal at large
