2 children killed, 4 hospitalized after SUV crashes with go-kart in Kaufman County

Two children died and four children were hospitalized after an SUV collided with their go-kart Saturday afternoon in College Mound in Kaufman County, officials say.

College Mound firefighters were dispatched to the crash about 12:30 p.m. in the unincorporated community about 40 miles east of Dallas.

The go-kart was carrying six children, ages 7 to 12. Their names were not released.

A 7-year-old was pronounced dead at the scene. The other five children were taken to hospitals — three were airlifted and two were driven.

A 12-year-old died later at a hospital, Texas Department of Public Safety Sgt. Kyle Bradford said Sunday. Details about the condition of the four surviving children were not released.

The SUV’s driver, whose name was not released, was not injured, officials said.
