Yes, carrying PIP is only secondary in importance to carrying uninsured/underinsured motorist coverage. I once represented a guy who had $100,000 in medical bills and the person who hit him only had $20,000 in insurance. Unfortunately, it’s way more common than most people think – something like 25% of drivers don’t have any insurance and those that do only have the state minimum (now $30,000).
