Two die in separate wrecks in Killeen

Two people died late Friday and early Saturday in separate car accidents in Killeen, one that police say involved a drunken driver.
About 10:30 p.m. Friday, a woman crossing West Veteran’s Memorial. Boulevard was hit by a Pontiac Bonneville.
The woman, who police had not been able to identify later Saturday, was pronounced dead at Carl R. Darnall Army Medical Center.
The driver of the Bonneville, a 40- year-old Killeen man, was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated, police said.
Several hours later, about 3 a.m. Saturday, a gray Kia Sorento and silver Hyundai Elantra collided head-on in the 6900 block of East Rancier Avenue after the eastbound Hyundai crossed over the center line into the westbound lane.
The 49-year-old woman drivingthe Hyundai was pronounced dead at 3:56 a.m. at Darnall Army Medical Center.
The man driving the Kia was also taken to Darnall, where he was treated and then released. Police did not release either driver’s name.
