One dead in three-car collision in Travis County
A three-vehicle collision on U.S. 183 in Mustang Ridge left one person dead and five injured, police said.
The wreck occurred before 6 a.m. Tuesday at the 12800 to 12900 block of U.S. 183, which is south of the Texas 45 Southeast tollway.
37-year-old Petra Arnold was driving a 2001 Dodge pickup north on 183 when it apparently went into the southbound lanes, striking another truck head-on. A Chevy Malibu then rear-ended the southbound truck.
Arnold was pronounced dead at the scene.
Five other people suffered serious injuries that were not life-threatening, said Warren Hassinger, spokesman for Austin-Travis County Emergency Medical Services.
