Head-on collision kills 1, hurts 1 in Buda

One person was killed and another hospitalized Monday morning after a head-on collision on RM 967, officials said.

Shortly before 7 a.m., a vehicle tried to pass another vehicle on RM 967 near Cole Springs Road and hit an oncoming vehicle, said Hays County sheriff’s office spokesman Leroy Opiela.

Officials did not release the names of the drivers. One driver was pronounced dead at the scene, and the other driver was airlifted to University Medical Center Brackenridge in Austin, Opiela said. His condition was not known.
